Database for overseas audiences, introducing information about international exchange performances orchestrated by the International Artistic Exchange Support Program of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Allows searching of past programs by genre, year, and other data.

Western Classical Music (The Japan Association of Classical Music Presenters)

Comprehensive classical music portal site maintained by the Japan Association of Classical Music Presenters. In addition to topical information about classical music in Japan and concert information, the site includes coverage of up-to-date same-day ticket sales and information about related artists and concert halls throughout Japan. The site also provides functionality for searching concert information by detailed categories including keyword, performance date, region, genre, theme, and time.

Performing Arts (Japan Foundation)
Performing Arts Network Japan/Performing Arts Network Japan
Drama database featuring interviews with important artists as well as synopses and artist profiles with the objective of disseminating information about the diverse and stimulating world of Japanese contemporary performing arts to overseas audiences. It is updated monthly. In addition to providing information about festivals and trade fairs with a focus on trends in the international performing arts scene, the site introduces hosts of television programs from around the world and works to revitalize international exchange.

Website developed to provide an opportunity for visitors to gain an up-close-and-personal understanding of Japanese traditional performing arts and contemporary theater; conceived as part of a government project encouraging the computerization of education. Organizers use digital technologies to record and collect information about the performing arts. In addition to being distributed as educational content to schools and other educational institutions, as well as to the public via the Internet, this information is available at the Traditional Performing Arts Information Center next to the National Theatre.

Entertainment Contents (Contents Portal Site Operation Council)

Portal site developed as a result of a planned database for disseminating content information as part of a Nippon Keidanren effort to encourage secondary and tertiary use of a variety of content. In addition to allowing searching of basic information for content works in the eight categories of Movies, TV Programs, Music, Literature, Comics, Anime, Art/Photo, and Games the site provides topical information relating to a range of content types. Entities wishing to make use of Japanese content for commercial purposes can register as members through the site's administrative office to obtain more detailed information about featured content, including contact information.

Cinema (Agency for Cultural Affairs)
日本映画情報システム/Japanese Cinema Database
Website offering search functionality that is designed to collect information about Japanese films and to encourage users to learn about and make use of them. As of April 2008, the site provides information for Japanese movies released between 1945 and 2006 (movies that have been screened by the Commission for the Administration of the Motion Picture Code of Ethics). Organizers plan to add to and update the site sequentially.

Cinema (Agency for Cultural Affairs)

Website providing detailed information collected from regional film commissions and other organizations about potential sites for on-location filming, including site photographs, locations, descriptions, and information about past projects that have used the sites. Provides functionality for searching by period or region.

Literature (Agency for Cultural Affairs)
現代日本文学の翻訳・普及事業/Japanese Literature Publishing Project
Project started by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2002 to introduce exceptional Japanese literary works written since the Meiji period to overseas audiences. Titles have been translated into the four languages of English, French, German, and Russian, and are not only are available for purchase at bookstores worldwide, but also have been donated to cultural institutions such as libraries and universities.

Database of Japanese literature that has been translated into foreign languages; maintained by the Japan Foundation in conjunction with the Japan P.E.N. Club. Primarily includes works dating back to the postwar period and allows searching in both Japanese and romanized Japanese.

Japanese Book News Website maintained by the Japan Foundation to provide publishers, editors, translators, scholars, and librarians with up to date information about publishing trends in Japan and brief description of the content of selected new books. Searches can be carried out by author, title, genre, etc.

Website featuring data provided by museums and art museums throughout Japan about Japanese cultural heritage, as well as data related to nationally designated cultural properties such as national treasures and important cultural properties.

Website allowing users to search for information about cultural properties that have been designated, registered, and selected by the Japanese government in accordance with the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties. Searches can be carried out by name, cultural property classification, prefecture, national treasure/important cultural property, owner, artist pseudonym, and period.

International Exchange (Japan Foundation)
文化交流基礎情報/Cultural exchange base information
Website providing basic information for use in promoting international exchange with Japan in 19 of the countries where the Japan Foundations maintains overseas offices, including general information about international exchange in each country, a description of the cultural state of affairs in each country by culture and artistic field, and collections of relevant reference links.

Database of national facilities with artist-in-residence programs that invite overseas artists to Japan for an agreed period of time, and support for their activities during this period.

Mecenat (Association for Corporate Support of the Arts, Japan)
メセナ活動データベース「メセナビ」/Mecenat Activity Database "Mecenavi"
Database of information about mecenat activities (support for the arts and culture) maintained by the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts. The website includes data relating to the mecenat activities of some 540 companies and about 230 corporate foundations throughout Japan based on the "Investigation Survey of Mecenat Activities."

Organization involved in initiatives to promote the development of infrastructure underpinning nonprofits activities relating to the arts, to resolve issues identified through the programs listed below and shared needs. Art NPO Databank, which is published once a year by this organization, includes information about the status of various nonprofits activities and a list of art nonprofits throughout Japan.

Website that is pursuing a project in conjunction with local stakeholders to revitalize society by enhancing the power of culture in different regions (the power of culture to inspire people and reinvigorate regional communities, promoting the development of an appealing society) in keeping with the concept of "revitalizing Japanese society with the power of culture" as put forth by Hayao Kawai, then Deputy Commissioner for Cultural Affairs. Each project spearheads a broad series of initiatives to disseminate the power of culture, for example through public relations activities, and utilizing the power of culture logo mark and website.
