* The Review Committee will discuss ways to preserve and display.

2. Process involved in the Policy for Permanent Preservation

The process is arranged in the following order:

(1) Dismantle the stone chamber

(2) Repair the mural and restore it with appropriate treatment

(3) Preserve the chamber permanently

3. Dismantling the stone chamber

This stage covers a series of works to be done starting from different levels of preparation for dismantling the stone chamber, installation of a curing device, excavation of the mound, construction of a temporary repair facility, and dismantling of the stone chamber.

(1) Curing the mural
The mural is protected with a curing device and the plaster between the stone materials is removed so that the mural can be removed without damage.

(2) Excavation of the mound
The first stage involves the excavation of the area from the upper surface of the mound to the ceiling of the stone chamber. The second stage is the excavation of the exterior of the side walls of the stone chamber. The goal here is to expose the stone chamber in such a way that it will be workable for dismantling.

(3) Preparation and investigation for dismantling
The structure of the stone chamber and the level of decay and damage, the strength of the stone material, and the vibrations caused by moving the stone material will be carefully investigated in order to ensure proper dismantling. A mound (after the excavation) that is the same size as the tumulus will be built and a trial dismantling will be conducted with a replica of the stone chamber.

(4) Dismantling of the stone chamber
The stone chamber will be dismantled and transported to a repair facility.

(5) Burial
The stone chamber will be buried in the original site immediately after the excavation and transportation.

4. Repair and preservation of the mural

The removed stone material from the chamber and the mural will be treated for restoration as follows:

(1) Reinforce the mural and the plaster

(2) Reinforce the stone material

(3) Remove mold and other microorganisms

5. Preserving permanently

Once the repairing and restoration treatments are completed, the mural will be placed in its original location after securing a climate controlled environment free from mold and other adverse effects. Details of the work will be discussed by the Review Committee in the repair and restoration stage, taking the mural condition into consideration.
