The protection of Cultural Properties logo was established in May of 1966 as an emblem to promote a campaign for the protection of cultural properties.
Based on a motif of two hands spread wide open, this logo invokes the image of a form of bracketing called tokyo, which is an important element of Japanese architecture. The three stacked elements symbolize the spirit of protection which eternally preserves the ethnic heritage of cultural properties from the past, in the present, and into the future.
