9月25日、伊藤文化庁長官はエジプト・アラブ共和国のシェリフ・ファトヒー・アティーア観光・考古大臣の表敬訪問を受けました。

伊藤長官は、ファトヒー大臣の訪問を歓迎するとともに、日本とエジプトの両国が文化遺産保護と観光における共通の課題意識を有しており、特に大エジプト博物館に関わる専門家の交流や協力が積極的になされていること、そして、両国の文化交流がさらに深まることへの期待を述べました。

ファトヒー大臣は、両国が文化交流や経済交流が永く続く友好な関係であることに触れつつ、大エジプト博物館における世界遺産の保存・修復のプロジェクトが両国研究者の協働のもと進められており、協力関係が非常に重要であると示されました。また、特に人材育成に向けた交流など、文化、観光、経済といった諸分野での交流を今後も一層深めていきたいと述べられました。

On September 25, Commissioner Ito of the Agency for Cultural Affairs received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Sherif Fathy Attia, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Commissioner Ito welcomed Minister Fathy's visit and noted that Japan and Egypt share common challenges and interests in the fields of cultural heritage preservation and tourism. He also highlighted the active exchanges and cooperation among experts involved in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and expressed his hope for further deepening cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Minister Fathy referred to the long-standing and friendly relationship between Japan and Egypt, which has been fostered through enduring cultural and economic exchanges. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries, noting that projects for the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage at the GEM are being carried out through collaboration between researchers from both countries. He also expressed his desire to further strengthen exchanges in a wide range of fields, including culture, tourism, and the economy, particularly in the area of human resource development.
